Pediatric Dentistry in Orange County

We have a staff of three board-certified pediatric dentists. They are Michael J. McCartney, DDS, Kathleen S. Lim, DDS, and Richard J. Thill, DDS. With the support of our office manager and our Registered Dental Assistants, we are experts at making your child feel safe and comfortable. Dr. Mike has been taking care of kids’ teeth in Orange County since 1974 – before some of his current patients’ parents were even born!
Pediatric Dentistry Services
At Tustin Pediatric Dentistry, we provide all of the routine dental care services that your child might need. We begin seeing infants even before their first birthday. We provide regular cleanings to remove plaque and tartar, which we recommend each child receive every six months. Fluoride applications are usually performed in conjunction with routine cleanings in order to strengthen the teeth.
We can also apply dental sealants. Sealants are a liquid that is painted on to the grooves in the teeth. The sealant is then cured using a special wand-like device. Once hardened, the sealant protects the teeth from cavities.
In the event that your child does develop a cavity, we can also provide amalgam or composite fillings.
Orthodontic Services
Tustin Pediatric Dentistry also provides orthodontic services. Orthodontics serve to correct any discrepancy in the bite. If the upper and lower teeth are not properly aligned, it can create both aesthetic and functional issues. We can correct those issues through the use of braces and other dental appliances. We offer both traditional braces and removable braces, like Invisalign.
Our Standard of Care
At your child’s first visit, we will take x-rays to help us assess the structure of the jaw and see any teeth that are developing. We pride ourselves on making kids feel comfortable, and we welcome parents to sit alongside their child through the duration of their visit.
We are committed to drug-free behavioral management. Rather than medicating your child, we choose to provide a safe and calming environment. We do use local anesthetics in order to control your child’s pain level. If your child would be safer having dental work performed under sedation, we will help you to make those arrangements.
