Office Policies

Our Appointment Policy

At Tustin Pediatric Dentistry we always try to schedule appointments at your convenience. We suggest that preschool children be seen in the morning because they are often more aware and we can work with them more slowly which makes them more comfortable. The same is true if you have school-aged children who need a lot of treatment. They are best seen in the morning as well. Remember, it’s a law that dental appointments are an excused absence for children. We also know that missing school can be kept to a minimum when regular dental care is provided.

Since we reserve appointed times specifically for each patient, we ask that you notify our office at least 24 hours in advance if you need to change or are unable to keep your appointment. That way, we can schedule a patient who needs care in that time slot. Unexpected things do happen from time to time but if you can stick to the 24 hour rule it would be much appreciated.

During Your Child’s Visit

The pediatric dentists and staff at Tustin Pediatric Dentistry have years of training and experience and have become experts at making children feel safe and comfortable. We always welcome a parent to sit chair side with their child, especially for little ones who may be anxious. Our goal with every child is to give them a positive experience so they have the knowledge and confidence that dental care is easy.

Insurance and Finances

We accept most all insurance plans that allow your choice for the dental provider. This would also include most PPO dental insurance plans. We can usually provide an estimate of your financial responsibility if we receive your dental benefits information prior to your visit. Yet, we cannot guarantee the specific amount they will cover. Your deductible and co-payment will be due at the time of your child’s dental appointment.

We always strive to create a treatment plan that is most adaptable to your budget and schedule. Most importantly, we want to work with you to provide your child the best care possible. We accept most major credit cards, cash and personal checks.

Also, if there are any changes to please your insurance such as policy name, insurance company address, or change of employment please NOTIFY US IMMEDIATELY.

Your Child’s Initial Visit With Us

All children are x-rayed upon their initial visit to Tustin Pediatric Dentistry. This is critical in order to give the doctor a look at the structure of the jaw, any teeth that have not yet come in, malformed roots, and of course, tooth decay.

We will also acquire your child’s medical history. Please be certain to provide ALL information on your child’s health. Inform us if your child has had any recent hospitalization, surgery, or specific illnesses. Let us know what doses, and frequency of any medications your child is taking as well. This includes prescription and over-the-counter products. We will also need the name and contact information of your child’s pediatrician. On future visits, please inform us of any changes in health or medications. This will allow us to create the most safe and effective method of treatment for your child.

Following your child’s first visit with us, we discuss any follow-up treatment including the costs and options for the particular care your child needs.

What You Can Expect on Typical Appointments

A regular dental checkup will typically take anywhere between 20 and 40 minutes. We only see patients by appointment. Since we usually do a good job of being on time for our patients, we ask that you please do the same for us and arrive at our office on time. If you cannot keep an appointment, please notify us as soon as possible.
